Terrified of the priestess, Ezinma cries in fear, but she is forced to go with Chielo to Agbala's house in the sacred cave and hangs onto Chielo's back. ![]() ![]() He begs her to let the child sleep and return in the morning, but Chielo does not listen and proceeds to Ekwefi's hut to find Ezinma. She then comes to Okonkwo's hut and tells him that Agbala needs to see his daughter Ezinma. Just as it becomes Ezinma's turn to tell Ekwefi a story, they all hear the high-pitched wail of Chielo, the priestess of Agbala. Ekwefi relates to Ezinma the tale of Tortoise, which explains why the Tortoise shell is not smooth. As Okonkwo relaxes in his hut after the evening meal, he listens to the voices of his wives and children telling folk stories. ![]()
